hot hot heaatttt!
Summer is especially harsh these last few years and this summer has been extremely hard on the hair of many of my clients! Avoid over using heat styling tools, bulk up on a great hair mask for your hair type (all soft mask by redkin or phyto moisture mask) and as hard as it might be during these sweaty months, avoid over washing... Apply an apple cider vinegar spritz to your scalp often to combat finiky and itchy scalps in place pf washing with heavy detergent like shampoos (like head n shoulders or aggresive dandruff shampoos).
stay cool!

July hair care FAVES!
Ive got some new hair care and styling favorites this month!
I'm really loving the Framesi Volcanic Wax for styling! Its been great on short mens cuts for malleable hold and sleek styles and great for beach y, piece-y looks on long layered styles or one length bob cuts! Also great for women's pixies and shorter textured bobs!
A new favorite too this month is the Blow Dry line of heat styling products, especially the oil. Use it on damp hair before blow drying or curling; just use a dime size amount on hair from the chin down!
July is looking busy already and Ive only got one Saturday left with availabilities, the 25th!
Hope you all had a great Holiday weekend!
Sasha!

May hair post!
Happy Summer!
This month Im offering $5 off all clear glazes, great for sealing up split or fried ends and good for maintaining manageability. Clear glazes are non color clear stains that increase shine. You can book it on www.vagaro.com/sashasiefman
Ive been reading up on alot of minimal heat styling techniques and its just in time, since hot weather and summer temperatures are upon us! A great new curl / wavy hair technique called Plopping is amazing! Apply product, dip hair into a cotton t-shirt and let dry early in the AM before you start your day or prep it for over night! Heres the link for step by step instructions for the best looks! http://www.buzzfeed.com/augustafalletta/plopping-is-the-best-kept-secret-for-perfect-natural-curls?utm_term=.rcGXqa3ZR#.knEoGqpwn !
For women with straighter hair or a really loose wave who want a model-esque wave that looks perfectly tousled try this technique I found on refinery 29 ; take damp hair and run some of your favorite smoothing serum mostly on the ends to avoid a greasy look by the scalp, make a loose ballerina bun with a couple bobby pins atop your head... let air dry for as long as you can then unravel and spray with your favorite Sea Spray for texture! I love Evo Salty Dog Spray, Rock a deep part and you're all set.
My favorite styling products this month for men and women is Evo! I don't love the shampoo and conditioner but all the styling product is great and smells awesome, not overly flowery but very pleasant and unique! While i don't sell the product in salon its available on online!

THE LINE UP; The past weeks creativity in a nutshell
This past week definitely afforded some great experiences for my clients filled with some corrective work and my usual creative beauty. First up on Tuesday morning i created a better tone for an ombre that was shodyly done on my client by another stylist... I made her happy and made her hair happier with a nice Carmel brown tone instead of the orange blonde ombre she walked in with. I followed that with a fun and natural looking highlight and got to head home:) Wednesday was a cool blonde chunky highlight on a very dark haired client followed by 2 grey coverage clients who looked great with warm rich brunette tones when they left... much better than the white roots they walked in with! Thursday was a mostly cut n style day with a lovely highlight with a couple warm low light panels for dimension thrown in to the mix. Saturday was a lovely cool rich brunette on top of several patchy pieces but it was all tied together and unified. The results are and were amazing!

Summer Hair Color Update: The Melt!!!!
Melt hair color is a color style similar to ombre but with more panels of lightness at the top of the hair closer to the scalp(usually more structured than baylayage and probably lightness placed with fine sectioned foils). The hairs base is still on trend with warm tones and honey warmish tones of blonde or light brown but spaced farther apart than conventional full highlights. Im onto the trend with my hair for this hot summer trend, See photos for some great examples!

A Look Into My Hair Care Cabinet at Home

Hair Tips!!
Fast and easy tips for hair
growth, shine, health and
long lasting color!
1. Wash only your scalp allowing the shampoo lather created to simplyy rinse through ends. Over scrubbing hair that falls from the chin below can cause dryness which can lead to breakage and short lived hair color.
2. Avoid washing more that 3-4 times a week whenever possible. Your scalp creates sebum which is the best conditioner for your hair and by allowing your natural oils to penetrate the follicle a protective seal covers the hair shaft and improves growth.
3. Use Sodium Larel Sulfate FREE shampoos only. SLS's are a derivative of battery acid and over dry the hair often leaving behind a film which can cause breakage and leave the hair looking dull and feeling harsh.
4. Condition for at least 3-7mins on hair falling from the chin down. After you've washed your scalp, you must condition your ends intensively for best styling results and shine. So, wash your scalp, rinse, apply conditioner and shave or wash your body to take up some time before you rinse the conditioner from your hair. Conditioners dont typically have SLSs' but do find one that is compatible with your hair needs and promotes health (i have tons of suggestions).
5. Always use a silicon free heat protectant when curling, flat ironing or blowdrying your hair (again, i have lots of suggestions).
6. If youre a blonde, never use heat higher than 380 degrees and for all others, never use heat above 450 degrees.
7. Always wait 48hours after a color service to wash your hair since color molecules need about 48 hrs to find a home in your hairs follicle .

variations of light and depth
nothing is better for a seasonal transition from winter to spring than letting the hairs natural tone play between baylayaged or highlighted sections on the head. subtle changes create unique and very personalized looks for every client. lately Ive been playing with face framing ombre and letting all the hair in the back become a beautiful rich gold bsed brown! looks like minka kelly slightly but really becomes each clients unique look...... spaced highlights on top with heavier blonde look on the ends of the hair is one of my fave looks all year round!

trust your stylist
trust... a huge step to take as a client sitting in a new (and sometimes often visited) salon chair. with consultation and a stylists open ear the best result will be achieved and sexy hair will be on your head. know that if a great reputation and solid clients follow your stylist, they most assuredly will not guide you wrong and will do their best to protect your hair and afford the style you want/deserve!

WINTER BEAUTY TIPS FOR HEALTHIER SCALP AND HAIR
winters rough, it drys us out, chills us a lil to the bone and makes us neglect our hair health and maintenance routine often hiding our hair under a hat or scarf to brave the colder temps. wash the scalp for 7 minutes massaging gently to increase blood flow and hair growth letting the shampoo rinse through ur hair and condition for 7 mins as well, rinsing well but allowing some to remain on the ends of the hair to decrease breakage. for those suffering from dandruff during the cooler months (like myself) mix 1 part apple cider vinegar to 9 parts water in a spray bottle and spray mixture directly onto scalp and massage gently with pads of finger tips for 20-30 mins. wash as instructed above and condition and after a few weeks of this routine results will be evident! the scalp will feel dandruff free and clarified and hair will be shiny:) always use an argon oil on hair when wet since thats when hair is porous and the sebum(body's
natural oil) like oil can seal the end of the hair shaft promoting hair growth! best hair beauty tip ever is to never NEVER wash hair everyday. work slowly and patiently with your comfort level and your sebum production schedule and get your selves to a once a week wash! this helps hair growth by avoiding dehydration and keeps color longer for color clients.
